Out of Hours Emergencies

Between 6:00pm and 8:00am weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays you should ring 111.

This service will decide what treatment you will require. They may direct you to the out of hours GP service Herts Urgent Care.

Out of hours, Herts Urgent Care, based at Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon covers emergencies. This is a specific out of hours service that is staffed by a skilled team of receptionists, nurses and doctors.

When you phone the above number you will speak to a receptionist who will take your details and pass them to one of the duty nurses or doctors. The clinician will either speak to you then or telephone you back. They will either offer advice, ask you to attend the out of hours centre, or if it is necessary arrange a home visit.

Details of all out of hours contacts are sent electronically to the Health Centre, so if the episode needs to be followed up the following day we will know about it.

  • It is expected that you will travel to the doctor and home visits will only be made when the doctor considers it is medically necessary.
  • You must always phone 111 first, it is not a walk-in centre.
  • This service is for emergencies that need immediate attention not for problems that can quite comfortably wait until the next surgery at the health centre.

St Neots Health Centre

The walk in centre on Tebbutts Road, St Neots, is open daily between 8am and 8pm. If necessary you are able to attend the centre for walk in appointments and still remain registered here with your regular GP and benefit from all our other services. The health centre will only treat our patients when we are closed, from 6pm till their closing at 8pm. The health centre will inform us about any consultations so that we can maintain a full record of all your care on your records here.
